I would feel more prouder if true blooded singaporean were the ones to do it..Just feel that we're relying too much on foreign talents these days..
I don't feel proud at all. Infact, i feel ashamed that the players representing Singapore are all from China. There is no pride. The government is just wasting our money. I would rather support a true blue Singaporean who comes back empty handed, rather than a foreigner who returns with a gold medal. Pls don't compare this to Mr Tan Howe Liang's silver medal from the 1960 Summer Olympics. This is an insult to him. Though born in China too, Mr Tan grew up in Singapore and is a Singaporean at heart.
I don't think Li Jiawei is proud of representing Singapore. It's all about the money. Pls check out how she dragged our National Flag on the floor during the opening ceremony......and pls don't tell me the flag is too heavy if the smaller sized Japanese lady carried her country's flag with pride.
I rest my case........
not at all as they are imports.
I still respect the 1960 medal (real local talent) even if the table tennis team were to win any medal.
I aren't proud, i am shame that we import FT to win medals for us, and take away our jobs from us. So am i proud? i rather someone who is born in Singapore rather win or lose, i am proud for our own real singaporean but definitely not FT. She still from china, die will be die china ghost, definitely wont be singaporean to me.
Never........if medal is all we want........there are better and cheaper imports -- runners from African countries.
I can be proud of Ang Peng Siong, Junie Sng, Joycelyn Yeo, etc despite they did not stage the world, because they are simply made-in-Singapore.
